Constant M. Ponggawa is the Managing Partner and one of the founding members of HANAFIAH PONGGAWA & PARTNERS (HPRP). He leads the Corporate and Commercial and Real Property practices.
Mr. Ponggawa founded HPRP in 1990 and during his career as a corporate lawyer since then, he has been working and assisting domestic and foreign clients. Furthermore, Mr. Ponggawa has a very wide networking and maintains his good relationship with them.
From 2004 – 2009, Mr. Ponggawa served as a member of Parliament in the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR – RI) where he was Vice Chairman in Commission VI of DPR RI covering trade, industry, investment, cooperatives – micro, small, and medium enterprises (UMKM) – state and regional owned enterprises (BUMN & BUMD), and national standardization related matters.
Mr. Ponggawa completed his Bachelor of law degree (S.H.) at Universitas Kristen Indonesia, Jakarta in 1986 and earned a Master of Laws degree (LL.M.) from Southern Methodist University, School of Law, Dallas, Texas, USA. He then continued his study in the Academy of American and International Law, International Comparative Law Center, Dallas, Texas, USA. During his period of study, he also worked as an associate lawyer in Stinson, Mag, Fizzell Law Offices, Dallas, Texas, USA.
In his practice as a corporate lawyer, Mr. Ponggawa has been involved in a number of international forums and organizations, such as speaking on ‘Doing Business in Indonesia’ for International Businessmen Breakfast Meetings in Hong Kong, Singapore, Australia, and San Francisco – USA, is a contributor partner of the World Bank in providing input on how to invest in Indonesia, and is a member of the International Society of the South Western Legal Foundation, Richardson, Texas – USA, Asia Law Practice, and International Pacific Bar Association.
For his outstanding work, Mr. Ponggawa has received awards and accolades from international institutions, among others:
